Dr. Timothy M. Ballard

Dr. Timothy M. Ballard is a distinguished musician and professional tenor with a rich tapestry of experience spanning over 30 years. Renowned for his versatility, Dr. Ballard has dedicated more than two decades to directing opera, plays, concerts, and now literature. Singing from the great operatic repertoire, he has performed notable works such as Pagliacci, Die Tote Stadt, La Bohème, Tosca, and La Traviata. He became fascinated with the power that the arts have to connect with and move an audience.

As the Artistic Director of The Southern Opera Theatre Company, Dr. Ballard is passionate about nurturing emerging talent and showcasing the finest operatic artists in the South. His commitment to the arts is matched by his academic achievements; he holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts in vocal performance and music history from Jacksonville State University, as well as a Doctor of Musical Arts in vocal pedagogy and music history from The Catholic University of America.

Since 1986, Dr. Ballard has imparted his knowledge to over 700 singers, many of whom have successfully transitioned to careers on Broadway and in national tours. His teaching philosophy emphasizes vocal technique and musicianship, equipping students with skills that last a lifetime. Vocal pathologist Mary “Tish” Moody praises him for his deep understanding of voice production and his exceptional ability to cultivate each singer’s unique vocal qualities.

With the arrival of his first book, Justice Served at Booger Hollow, Dr. Ballard is excited to share with you the first of four planned books in the Tales of Booger Hollow. Additionally, he will be publishing a set of short stories later this year, with the second installment of the Booger Hollow series, Quilting Party at Booger Hollow, early next year. Additionally, he is developing the book and lyrics for a new musical, along with the libretto for an opera. Dr. Ballard is thrilled to embark on this new creative journey and hopes you will enjoy his literary works.
